The 1970's fashion, often called the "Me
Decade", began with a continuation of the mini skirts, bell-bottoms,
and the androgynous hippie look from the late 1960s and eventually
became one of the most iconic decades for fashion ever.
Generally the most famous silhouette of the mid and
late 1970s for both genders was that of tight on top and loose on bottom. The
1970s also saw the birth of the indifferent, anti-conformist approach to
fashion, which consisted of sweaters, t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers.
If
something fashion of the 70s for women is characterized , is by the colors and
prints, which were the stars of this decade, with multicolored geometric
designs, lush flowers which were combined with other very small circles ,
frets, lines , but especially color, lots of color.
The miniskirt
The miniskirt was founded
in 1963 by British designer Mary Quant, who was inspired by the Mini cars and
since the late 50s had begun to suggest dresses or shorter than usual models.
But undoubtedly the real boom took place in 1973, when miniskirts joined
shorts, jeans sometimes. These pants found the legs of women, but they were also
comfortable and let freedom of movement.
The shoes
The shoes in the
70s were quite comfortable, it still clogsshoes, which over the years, began
his heel lift with a cubic shape, and
slowly began to see models with stiletto
heel. After this structure began to be placed in the lower part of the
models, leading to the wooden heels. So did thesandals, which were the
preferred choice to wear with shortskirts, and little by little, like shoes,
began to take themost original ways. These models have survived to this day
with clogs that Chanel has presented seasons ago or those of Alexander McQueen.
Hairstyles
Hairstyles that were popular in the early
'70s, was the hairstyle "bon ton" for ladies, that gave way to
colorful models, exaggerated parallel with hair accessories, which resulted
scarves and bandanas , finishing the classic baseball caps. The hair scarves
are passing from the elastic models to those made in wool.
Jewelry
The jewelry in the
70s was marked by three main trends: the flowers in the early part of the
decade (a reminder of clothing Flower Power '60s), and geometric lines inspired
by Indian fashion. Lengthy necklaces, bracelets, rings and pendants made of
metal and in such detail with the presence of pearls, beads and flowers made of
plastic or metal.
Bags
The
bags in the 70s had as main characteristic that were unisex, ie served for both
men and women, because gender parity was reflected both in fashion and in the
way they dress. The bags were large, rectangular and square shapes, which were
presented without long handles, as it had only arm, but sometimes could be
adjustable.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses of the 70s are very popular and in fact may be the most
representative fashion point of these years. Sunglasses of the 70 were large,
while almost blotted out the face, with wide frames, but in the second half of
the decade, they became more subtle. You just have to say a couple of things to
give you an idea: the legendary Elton John Crocodile Rock and signature Ray
Ban, who are fans of many famous today as Paula Echevarría.
If
there was a garment that truly marked the 70 were the pants for both men and
women that led bell, besides being quite tight in the waist area.
The fashion of
the 60s was a milestone for women in the world, but 70 did not remain far
behind. And it's true what they say, everything returns.
